A Holiday Angel Tree Supporting Black Mothers and Their Children
This holiday season, Abolitionist Sanctuary invites you to spread joy, warmth, and love through The Abolition Tree, our Angel Tree–inspired giving initiative. Rather than selecting individual families, supporters contribute to a collective fund that provides holiday gifts, essential items, and emergency support to single Black mothers and their children.
Many of the families we serve face economic hardship intensified by systemic neglect and the criminalization of Black motherhood. And yet, like the mothers whose stories shaped our organization, they continue to lead with resilience, faith, and fierce love.
The Abolition Tree honors their courage by ensuring the holiday season brings not only relief, but dignity and celebration.

Abolitionist Sanctuary is prepared to enter the next phase of programmatic and missional growth as a national public education and nonpartisan advocacy organization. Building on a solid foundation of evidence-based research, visionary leadership, and public engagement, we have a dynamic organization that is positioned to advance understandings of faith, abolition, and Black motherhood.
We are seeking philanthropic support to train a coalition of faith-based, civic, and educational leaders to repair, restore, and rebuild a more just and equitable society. Our goal is to create a certification and membership program across several tracks for participants to receive credential and/or membership to demonstrate competency to become a functioning “Abolitionist Sanctuary.”
In furtherance of our mission and values, Abolitionist Sanctuary is people-centered, led by trained local leaders, and driven by transformative teachings and practices that are designed to end mass incarceration and increase diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond punishment, policing, and prisons.
